He is Risen!…Go and Tell…

I look forward to spring every year. Spring is a time of new life and new beginnings. I look forward to Easter for the same reason! We are about to celebrate Easter and the new life that begins when we encounter the Living, Risen Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Because Jesus is risen from the dead, we know that the powers of sin and death have been broken, shattered dreams can become new visions, and hope blossoms into full flower.

The early disciples exploded with joy, and took seriously Jesus’ Words: “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” (John 20:21) Everywhere they went, and everywhere they were sent, empowered by the Holy Spirit, the disciples proclaimed the good news of God’s love and forgiveness and the new life available through Jesus Christ.

I really enjoyed the book, Just Walk Across the Room by Bill Hybels, the senior pastor of the Willow Creek Church. The book is about having a heart in tune with the Holy Spirit, taking a genuine interest in another person, and becoming willing to leave our “Circle of Comfort” and “just walk across the room,” so that the Holy Spirit can use us to impact another person’s life. One of the statements that Hybels makes is this: “I honestly believe that every wayward person I know would live a vastly better life if God’s love, grace, and redemption were operating in their lives.”

Certainly, the early disciples believed that…do we? As we get ready to celebrate Easter, let’s share our joy with others….let’s ask God to direct us to someone that we could invite to share the joy of our Easter celebration. All you have to say is this: “Would you like to come to church with me this weekend?”

If we really believe we have a God worth knowing…let’s be about connecting God and people!!

And be sure to come and Celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord on Easter Sunday, March 27 at 10:00 A.M.

Grace and Peace,
Pastor Debbie
