“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it too the full.” – Jesus in John 10:10
I hope you all had a meaningful and wonder-filled Christmas as we celebrated the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As we begin another year, let us continue to move forward in our relationship with God through Jesus Christ and in or relationships with one another.
In John 10, Jesus said that He came to give us life to the full, an abundant life, a limitless life that is grounded in the greatness of our God. Our life in Jesus is limitless because it’s eternal, and it starts now, by the way. Yet we often feel like we are not living limitless.
What keeps us from living the abundant life that Jesus offers us? Fear is often what keeps us from living life to the full. Perhaps we fear moving out of our comfort zone, we fear making wrong decisions, we live in fear of our past, we fear that we are not good enough and God will not love us. And perhaps we feel hemmed in by our past or by broken relationships or by the labels others put on us.
During worship in January, our preaching series will be called “Limitless; Living Life to the Full.” We will be exploring how we can move past old labels that the world puts on us, and live into the freedom that God offers, as we listen to the voice of our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, and follow Him, as well as by trusting that God will do what God has promised in our lives.
Paul described living life to the full this way in Philippians 3: “Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” – Phil 3:13-14 NLT
Let me encourage all of us to move into the New Year, forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, as we follow the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, who laid down His life for us, so that we could live limitless, so we could live life to the full!
Please join us each Sunday in worship at 10:00 in January for “Limitless: Living Life to the Full!”
Grace and Peace
