From Our Pastor . . . .
Over all the years the people the world knows as Christians have used songs for education, praise, and as conversations with God and each other. Every now and again the songs change.
They change in their style, what they emphasize, how they sound.
My four years as your pastor are rushing to their end. My thirty-eight years serving churches in the Wisconsin Conference are cascading to their end. As I look back on my joys and sorrows in ministry and then gaze into the future I see change coming. Change is in the air for every congregation, most of it will not be greeted with open arms, but it confronts and will challenge every congregation, especially in the next few years. I wish I could be more of a part of the future church than I will be, but then, decisions have been made.
For me the old will always be connected to the new, especially with the hymnody of the church. Let me share just the first verse of a hymn that has helped me stand through the years:
I love to tell the story
of unseen things above,
of Jesus and his glory,
of Jesus and his love.
I love to tell the story,
because I know 'tis true;
it satisfies my longings
as nothing else can do.Refrain:
I love to tell the story,
"twill be my theme in glory,
to tell the old, old story
of Jesus and his love.God's peace to you!
